Project Turnkey

Project type

Building Projects

Location

Portland, Oregon

Description: The Oregon Legislature spearheaded this fund’s inception in 2020, allocating $65 million to obtain motels/hotels to use as non-congregate shelters for those experiencing homelessness, at risk for homelessness, or displaced by the wildfires. In less than seven months, this project helped create 19 new shelters, which increased shelter beds by 20% in the state. Due to the program’s initial success and the direct need for emergency and transitional housing, the Legislature allocated another $50 million to provide housing opportunities throughout the state. By the end of June 2023, the project was estimated to have 32 projects with nearly 1,400 beds to transition thousands of Oregonians from housing insecurity to stability.

What makes it different: This project is dedicated to helping individuals find stable housing and services. It provides a range of wraparound services on-site for behavioral and physical health, document acquisition/replacement, vocational services, assistance finding work, housing navigation, as well as connections to other benefits at other locations.
